This section will help you find general information about cancer, its causes and how cancer can be prevented. You can also read about how various screening programmes can detect cancer in its very early stages. Tests and investigations play an important role in both detecting a cancer as well as deciding how it is best treated and we have included a section where you can find information on that. Finally, we often talk about how cancer can run “in the family” and we have a section with links to information about that under the heading ‘genetics’. If you are looking for information relating to a specific type of cancer, you should go to the section called “specific cancers”.
